Best Albums of the Decade. Part 2.

Alright kids, part 2 of my little list.

Here it goes again:

7. M.I.A. – Kala (2007)

M.I.A. - Kala

Definitely deserving a spot in the top 10. M.I.A says it like it is, and does so to the dirtiest of beats! A true hero!

6. Goldfrapp – Felt Mountain (2001)

Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain

Clever debut of one of Britain’s finest. Continuously renewing themselves and not afraid to do what others won’t…Their debut album stays their all-time best, with ingenious use of strange instruments and Alison’s haunting, lingering voice.

5. Sigur Rós - Takk…(2005)

Sigur Rós - Takk...

Venturing into the top 5 with one of Iceland’s finests band (‘cause honestly, there’s no beating Björk for that spot). They seem to be able to hit just the right note every time, resulting in very powerful, emotional songs in the most orchestrated arrangements.

Jónsi’s wonderful falsetto finishes it off.

4. Fever Ray – Fever Ray (2009)

Fever Ray - Fever Ray

Only released this year, but already firmly in this list’s top 5.

Whoever thought The Knife couldn’t possibly sound any darker, more haunting and fairytale-esque, think again.

Also, big thumbs up for the imagery surrounding this record!

3. Björk – Medúlla (2004)

Björk - Medúlla

Definitely the most renewing album in the list; Björk goes accapella!

The most amazing use of the human voice ever used in music, resulting in strangely poppy tunes and wonderful vocal experiments.

2. The Knife – Silent Shout (2006)

The Knife - Silent Shout

Snowy Scandinavian Horror meets throbbing beats and energetic electronica.

It’s icy perfection and Karin’s floating voice create a hauntingly beautiful and slightly scary wonderland I love to dwell in for hours.

1. Björk – Vespertine (2001)

Björk - Vespertine

For it’s endless beauty, incredible inventiveness and eternal truth.

Björk delivers a one of a kind, completely unique album filled with microbeats, lush strings and her ever so expressive voice.

Miles ahead of any other record in this list.

So, that’s that. A little selection of my favourite albums of these past 10 years.

Of course, it needs to be added, this list is far from complete, and it definitely does not hold ALL of my favourite artists, so if anyone feels left out, don’t worry!

I just couldn’t make a list with all of the albums I enjoyed…

It’ll be one hell of a job for any artist of the next decade to top the number one of  this one, though.

Unless it’s the Miss herself, of course.
